Zumba is a fitness program based on Latin American dance. It was developed by Alberto 'Beto' Perez, a Colombian dancer and choreographer who now lives in Miami. Zumba involves various fitness exercises set to music, and in that respect is similar to aerobics.
‘Zumba’ is a Columbian Spanish word which means both ‘moving quickly’ and ‘having fun’. Lessons are very easy to follow and suitable for both beginners and more advanced participants. There are no complicated dance steps to learn. You will train your entire body and burn off a lot of calories during the sessions, although you will hardly notice since the lessons are so much fun.
