University Library

A collection with over 800,000 books, journals, illustrations, early works and manuscripts. The combination with a voluminous collection of e-books and e-journals provides a treasure of scholarly information.

University card

The Tilburg University library is open to everyone. To borrow material you need a university card, which can be obtained at the LIS Service Desk.

Students and staff members of other Dutch universities

You are required to provide proof of registration either as a student or staff member of another university, plus a valid identity card. A (returnable) deposit of € 15.- has to be paid. The university card is valid for one year from the date of issue and can be renewed.

Students of the Open University

You are required to provide proof of registration as a student of the Open University. plus a valid identity card. A (returnable) deposit of € 15.- has to be paid. The card is valid for one year from the date of issue and can be extended.

Users Brabant-Collection

A university card can be issued after you have shown a valid identity card and a payment of € 15,- deposit (returnable). The card is valid for one year and can be extended.

Other external library customers

To obtain a university card, a valid identity card is required. One years subscription costs € 15.00 and a returnable deposit of € 15.- is required for the card. Your subscription can be extended for a furthur year after payment of € 15.00. The deposit of € 15.- will be returned after the card (in good condition) is handed in.

LIS Service Desk

Loss or theft

After loss or theft of your university card, please contact the LIS Service Desk (telephone 013-466 3111) or the Student Desk (telephone 013-466 8000). The card will then be blocked in order to avoid misuse.
Students who have lost their card may continue to borrow books, if they are able to show library staff proof of their current enrolment (Registration form). Replacement cards will have to be paid for.

Identification

The library accepts the following forms of identification for issuing a university card: a valid passport or European identity card, a driving licence or an annual public transport card.
