Get It!
Search with Get It!
The Tilburg University library search engine is called Get It! and does more than just find information. It presents the search results into categories that makes it easy to further refine the results. Specially added information makes it easier to make key decisions about the relevance of your results.Key functionality
Have a look at this overview, which shows all important functionality at a glance.- Simple search
Enter words in any order. Get It! will search for publications that contain all those words. There is no need to use AND.
Tips to specify your searches:- put words in "" to find an exact phrase: "Dutch cuisine"
- use * to include plurals, word stems, and alternative spelling: consumer*, behavio*
- use OR to include alternative terms: Holland OR Netherlands OR Nederland
- use () for complex queries, e.g. advertising AND (radio OR television) or networks NOT (computer OR ICT)
- to see a table of contents of a journal, search for the journal title and make sure sorting is set to 'year (newest first). Articles are then presented in reverse chronological order. Add a year to your query or use the Year facet on the left to select previous years. It is also possible to just add volume and/or issue number to your query.
- Insight in your search query
After each search, the column on the left displays information about the publications that were found. It shows the most important terms found in the result set, ordered by categories ("facets") - Simple refinement of search results
By selecting a term from the list "Narrow your results" you combine this term with the original request. E.g. the original search query was mobile advertising; you click on the facet "year 2009" and you will only find publications on mobile advertising published in the year 2009. - Extra information to make informed decisions
Each title display contains a "Show details" button that will display information like keywords and abstract, if available. This will make it easier to decide whether a publication is relevant to you. - See instantly whether a publication is available
Each title contains information on the availability of the publication (if applicable):- it shows a link to the electronic version
- it lists the shelf location
- it shows a link to make an Interlibrary Loan Request
- a link to reserve a publication
- a link to put in a depot request
- Alerting service with RSS
It is possible to subscribe to RSS feeds of search results. Your RSS reader will then show new results for your search. Use the orange RSS button to subscribe:

- Images of book and journal covers
The search engine shows book and journal covers with the records (if available). This makes publications more recognizable. - Simple hyperlinking to fulltext and search queries

Different from simultaneous search
There are two main differences between Get It! and the Simultaneous search option: Get It! offers the functionality mentioned earlier and it presents all results in one list. You no longer have to click through to individual databases to see the results. (Although simultaneous search does enable you to search more and other content than that which is available in Get It!)
Your opinion counts!
We want to improve Get It! so it will live up to your expectations. Tell us what you like about it, or what you would like us to change, by using the feedback form.
