Opening Academic Year
On September 3 2012 Tilburg university will celebrate the Opening of the New Academic Year 2012-2013.
This will be our chance to say farewell to the President of the Executive Board, Hein van Oorschot. As of September 1 he will leave Tilburg University to take up the post of President of the NHTV in Breda.
The guest speaker will be Bernard Wientjes, president of the Dutch employer’s organization VNO-NCW. In his speech, entitled ‘University and Entrepreneurship’, he will discuss the importance of universities for trade and industry and vice versa. The main focus of his speech will be the ‘top sector policy’ which aims to ensure that the links between business and research institutions continue to grow stronger. It is these links that make the Netherlands an attractive location for both business and science.
During the academic session, the dissertation prize will be awarded to the best defended dissertation of the 2011-2012 academic year.
