Board of Governors
Tilburg University is a so-called 'special university'. Unlike the state universities, Tilburg University comes under a private-law foundation. Its Board of Governors guards the aims of the foundation, including its open Catholic identity. The Board of Governors also appoints the members to the Executive Board.
In addition, the Board of Governors is also in charge of the tasks and powers assigned by law to state university Supervisory Boards, such as approving:
- the strategic plan;
- the budget, financial long-term plan, and annual accounts;
- the annual report
- the executive and management regulations.
In the case of a conflict between the Executive Board and the employee participation body - the University Council -, the Board of Governors can play a mediating role. The Board of Governors consists of:
- Chair:
- Prof. Dr. R.F.M. Lubbers
- Members:
- W.I. van Beek
- Mrs. R.I. Doerga RA
- Mrs. Dr. A. Esmeijer
- Ir. B.W.M. Koeckhoven
- Drs. M.A.M. Leers
- Ing. J.P.C.M. van Zijl
