    Challenges of the new EU budget rules: constitutionalism, democracy and European integration
    The new Treaty on the Stability, Coordination and Governance of the Economic and Monetary Union (generally referred to as the Fiscal Compact), has introduced a detailed obligation that government budgets be balanced and required the 25 members of the European Union (EU) which signed the Fiscal Compact to incorporate this “golden rule” within their state Constitutions. This requirement represents a major and unprecedented development which will be discussed at the conference The Constitutionalization of European Budgetary Constraints on 30 and 31 May at Tilburg Law School.

    Global Law Chair filled by Prof. Peer Zumbansen
    The Visiting Chair in Global Law of Tilburg Law School will be filled by Prof. Peer Zumbansen. He is considered one of the foremost commentators on the transformation of law in the global era. The Global Law Chair has been created for visiting professors appointed for one year or less. Prof. Zumbansen currently holds the Canada Research Chair in Transnational Economic Governance and Legal Theory at Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, Canada.
