No food in the Library from July 1, 2023
From Saturday, July 1, 2023, no food may be taken into the Library. This decision has been taken because of nuisance caused by mice and damage to equipment and furniture. Only lidded water bottles are allowed in the Library.
After the renovation of the Library in 2021, it was allowed to bring food onto the first floor of the Library. Additional staff were engaged to clean up food scraps and trash, but this did not prove to be the solution to the mice problem. Also, eating and drinking at workplaces led to damage to equipment and furniture.
Food and drinks are still allowed in the Study Cafe on the first floor. Open cups and cold meals are welcome here. Nothing will change on the ground floor and the second floor: a food ban was already in place there.
If you want a meal, you can go to the Tuinkamer in the Restaurant. From now on, this space will be open until 23:00 hrs. and a microwave will be installed there. The map shows where you can find the Tuinkamer.
Please note that the Restaurant will be closed for technical maintenance this summer (weeks 27-34). The Tuinkamer continues to be accessible from the outside, also when the Restaurant is closed for maintenance.
