Marie Sklodowska-Curie Innovative Training Networks (ITN) grant awarded to Etienne de Klerk and Monique Laurent

Professor Etienne de Klerk and Professor Monique Laurent received a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Innovative Training Networks consortium grant for their project “Polynomial Optimization, Efficiency through Moments and Algebra (POEMA)”.

Polynomial optimization refers to a class of mathematical optimization problems that appear in diverse areas like finance, data science, and the study of networks, to name but a few. The project consortium is made up of 14 academic and industrial partners, including Tilburg University and CWI, Amsterdam from the Netherlands, and companies like IBM. The research project will run for four years, and involves a total funding of more than four million euro, of which about 260k euro will go to Tilburg University. The grant provides funding for 15 PhD positions, including one at the Department of Econometrics and Operations Research (EOR) of TiSEM, and two at CWI, Amsterdam. Prof Etienne de Klerk is the Tilburg University representative in the project, while Prof Monique Laurent, who holds a part-time position at EOR, will be the representative of CWI, Amsterdam.
