Imagining Global Law

Scholarship in the humanities has convincingly shown that representations exert huge influence over how we conceptualise, grasp and deal with global issues and events. This applies, too, to how we understand the background conditions of global law; how we define the issues perceived to be in need of regulation; how we understand and form what are the relevant questions; the tools available to law; and so on.

How we imagine global law – how we visualise it, the metaphors that we use to talk about global law – is one of the most important questions in this new field.

This part of the project – still under development – will seek to develop imaginative ways of reflecting upon the imagining of global law.
