VvC Lecture

Towards a digital society

During four years (2017-2020) the alumni network Vrienden van Cobbenhagen together with Tilburg University Society will invite an internationally renowned professor to share his or her views on developments in society. The Lecture is an active contribution to the international orientation of Dutch politics, research, education and business. The Lecture also has the goal to appeal new audiences and potential members of the Vrienden van Cobbenhagen. With the ceremony of the Cobbenhagen Scholarship and Cobbenhagen Prize, active master's and bachelor's students also become involved with the initiative.

Cobbenhagen Lecture 2018

On Friday January 26, 2018 professor Viktor Mayer-Schönberger gave the second Vrienden van Cobbenhagen Lecture entitled 'Towards a digital society'. Viktor Mayer-Schönberger is professor Internet Governance and Regulation at the Oxford Internet Institute (OII) of Oxford University. He is also connected to the Belfer Center of Science and International Affairs of Harvard University.

Vrienden van Cobbenhagen Scholarship & Prize 2018

The Vrienden van Cobbenhagen Scholarship and Prize are awarded to a Bachelor's and a Master's student who not only are good students academically (average grade of 7,5) but also contribute to society through or next to their studies.

Winner Vrienden van Cobbenhagen Scholarship 2018 Sophie Melchers

Sophie Melchers, student Global Law: "I plan to study Chinese State Law or Chinese Business Law in Hong Kong. Then, I will come back to The Netherlands in order to help build a bridge between the EU and China, but The Netherlands and China specifically."
