“The quality of our education and research is our first concern. We go with the times and adept to today’s demands. That is no different for our outlook on the university’s real estate. This means a physical step up to a higher quality that fits our institute perfectly.” Prof. Dr. Philip Eijlanders, former Rector Magnificus.
First phase: new building at Prisma area
After the demolition of part of Prisma Building, this area is now empty and deserted. But behind the scenes, we are working hard on a brand new building in the same spot. Interesting information for students: approximately 350 new study spaces will be created in the completely new Education and Study Center. This building will be equipped with several individual work spaces and group work areas, which can be booked online. In addition, there will be large lecture halls and smaller lecture rooms. Rooms will be furnished with the new Tilburg Education Profile in mind. That means that we will arrange the furniture in ways to stimulate the interaction between students and teachers. You can look forward to lectures, tutorials, and exams in a new Education and Study Center equipped with the latest audio-visual facilities.
At the moment, five consortia of architects and contractors are working on several designs for the new building. They have been asked to design a building according to the second highest sustainability standard (BREEAM Excellent). The designs will be presented in the beginning of next year. We aim to open the building in January 2018.
