Erdogan eclipsing the independent judiciary

Night Talk: Meet the world of alternative facts, the independent judiciary under siege.

For years, Turkish president Erdogan lamented that the judiciary should not only be independent, but also neutral, because they were obstructing his AK-party. Now Human Rights reports claim that excessive leeway is being given to prosecutors and judges who contribute to politically motivated investigations, and they express the fear that the judiciary is acting in line with the AK-government’s wishes. Learn about alternative facts in this session with: Joost Lagendijk (former member European Parliament) and Dries Lesage (director Ghent Institute of International Studies).
