Simplifying processes wherever possible

Reducing the administrative burden and removing unnecessary obstacles are primary objectives of Tilburg University’s Untangling and Unburdening program. This burden and these obstacles have been assessed and feedback from students and staff has been analyzed and reported to the Divisions and Schools. What better time to share some improvements? This update highlights the alterations implemented by Facility Services.

Adaptations driven by sustainability

Sustainability matters to students and staff of Tilburg University, and their concerns have found their way to the coffee machines: people can now use their own mugs to get tea or coffee from them. Students and staff also frequently ask why Tilburg University does not appear to separate waste. In fact, Tilburg University does separate waste, and has been doing so for a long time, but the separation process takes place elsewhere: waste material is collected before it is separated. To clearly communicate this process of waste separation, trash cans now have QR code stickers. These give more information about the separation process.

Making things easier

Accessing keys in key cabinets used to require completing a Trakakast form, and if one person needed several keys, they would have to complete separate forms for every one of those keys – a highly inefficient way of doing things. Now only one form needs to be completed to access several keys. And quickly buying a snack at the vending machines on campus is now a great deal easier for everyone: the machines no longer only accept Dutch bank cards, but also, for example, Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
