Keuzegids Masters: Tilburg University again best general university

Published: 28th February 2017 Last updated: 01st May 2019

PERSBERICHT 28-02-2017 - In the Keuzegids Masters 2017, Tilburg University has again achieved the highest total score of the nine general universities and is thus the best general university as regards Master’s programs in the Netherlands, as it was in 2016.

The average number of points of all universities together was 60.5 points so, with 63 points, Tilburg University scores well above this national average. In the Keuzegids Masters 2017, which is a publication of the CHOI (Center for Higher Education Information), all Master’s programs in the Netherlands are assessed and compared, largely based on students’ assessments.

Rector Magnificus Emile Aarts: "It is great to hear that Tilburg University has again achieved Best general university regarding Master's programs and that so many programs have been awarded the top program quality label. This result reflects positively on us all, especially on our teachers, who put up a tremendous performance every year."

Eight Masters are best in their field

That Tilburg University achieves such high scores in this edition of the Keuzegids Masters is also borne out by the fact that eight non-unique Master’s programs rank first in their field. These programs include the Research Master in Law, Law, Economics, Tax Economics, Strategic Management, Organization Studies, and Medical Psychology. The Academic Teacher Master’s program in Social Studies ranks first as well. The total score is slightly down from last year (63.5), but is clearly higher than in 2015 (61.5 points) and 2014 and 2013 (59 points).

Four top programs at Tilburg University

With a total score of 82, the Research Master in Law and the Research Master in Social and Behavioral Sciences belong to the top of Dutch academic education across the disciplines, according to CHOI standards, as they did last year. For this reason, the ‘top program’ quality label has been awarded to these Master’s programs. In the 2017 edition, the Masters of International Management and Strategic Management (both 78 points) have also been awarded the ‘top program’ quality label.
