Admission and Application
The BSc in International Business Administration programme has a decentralized selection procedure and a numerus fixus that aims to create a multicultural classroom by enrolling a variety of nationalities. All candidates who apply for the programme can be included in the decentralized selection procedure. Applications for admission are assessed throughout the year but you are strongly encouraged to apply as early as possible, especially for international students who would like assistance with their visa application and with finding accommodation.
A decentralized selection and a numerus fixus means that the number of places available in the IBA programme is limited and that the programme will select 50% of its students based on a motivation letter provided by the applicant.
The motivation letter should contain the student's international background, international experience, motivation, and career aspirations. The remaining 50% of available places is allotted by means of a drawing lots procedure based on your grade point average. Students that have not been selected by means of the decentralized selection will automatically participate in the drawing of lots procedure.
The application and registration process can be divided into different steps:
- Checking the admission requirements
Do you meet all admission requirements?
- Application
If you meet all the admission requirements, you can start your application by filling in the online application form and gathering all required documents. Furthermore, you need to register yourself by means of Studielink, the Dutch central organisation through which applications are processed for entry to higher education, at www.studielink.nl.
Please make sure to do so before 15 May.
After receiving your application form and the complete set of required documents, Tilburg University will send you a confirmation by email and will start the admission procedure by evaluating your educational background. - Selection
If you fulfill the admission requirements and you have sent us your motivation letter, you will be part of the selection procedure. The selection criteria are focused on international experience, international background and motivation in order to create a multicultural classroom. This means that the majority of available places in the decentralized selection will be reserved for international students and Dutch students with international experience and ambitions.
If you have not been selected in the decentralized selection procedure you will automatically be forwarded to the drawing lots procedure of the IB group. The drawing lots procedure is based on grades: the higher your grades for your secondary school, the more chance you have of receiving a place. Students with a Dutch VWO diploma with an average grade of 8.00 or higher are automatically selected for the programme of their choice. The drawing lots procedure performed by the IB group will take place on 15 July 2010. - Registration
If you have been admitted to the Bachelor in International Business Administration programme at Tilburg University, you will receive a confirmation of your admission. As an international student you will receive your registration package during the Welcome Week. Dutch VWO students will receive their package from the beginning of June on. You are kindly requested to fill in the registration documents as soon as possible. You need to be registered in order to attend educational activities.
