Guidance & Mentoring

The first year of the IBA program provides the opportunity to develop an overview and understanding of International Business as a discipline. Based on the results you obtain for your courses in the first year, you will be able to determine whether you are capable of successfully completing the remaining two years of the program. It is also important to check whether the program meets your expectations with respect to content, educational approach and career perspectives.

Academic Advisor
Each program at Tilburg University has an academic advisor. You can talk with the academic advisor about methods of planning and study, disappointing results, binding study advice, but also about personal matters such as illness, adjusting to university life or domestic problems.

Student Counselor
Tilburg University has several Student Counselors available for students from all Schools. Depending on the nature and the seriousness of the problem, the student counselor can help you with information and coaching or refer you to other staff members or authorities or certain training sessions or courses.

Student Psychologists
Tilburg University also has Student Psychologists available for questions, doubts or problems related to study or personal issues.

Study and Career Counselor
The Study and Career Counselors can coach you and advise you with questions on choice of study, study career planning and choice of profession. In this context, you can think of the reorientation of the choice of study, the breaking out of a study-deadlock, choice of master's education or master's specialisations and career questions (e.g. job applications and cv-check, preparing for an interview).

MAK mentors (buddies)
As a first-year IBA student you will have a mentor (buddy), an older student from the school who will be your guide during the introduction period and first year. Your mentor can help you with studyrelated questions and settling in at the university and in Tilburg (and the Netherlands). The MAK Mentorship System also organizes tutorships, private coaching and exam training for courses in the IBA program.
