Admission requirements for our Bachelor's programs

Are you interested in one of our Bachelor’s programs? We welcome both national and international students, and encourage you to submit an application. Applying for our programs is free, and can easily be done online. It is the best way to find out whether you are accepted for the program of your choice.

Application requirements

To be admitted to a Bachelor's program at Tilburg University, you will need to meet several application requirements:

In addition, we want to get to know more about you in order to determine whether a certain program is the right fit for you. Therefore, we may require you to write a motivation, submit a CV or essay, and there could be an interview procedure. Because of these slight differences between programs, it is necessary to always navigate to the admissions page for the program of your choice. Make sure to read the instructions thoroughly before you start your application.

Application process

When you are ready to apply via our application procedure, you need to do so in two places:

  1. MySAS, Tilburg University’s online application system
  2. Studielink, the Dutch national registration system for admission to higher education

For most programs, we have a rolling admissions process. This means your application will be assessed as it comes in, and you will know whether you are (conditionally) accepted within a few weeks.

There are two programs with a Numerus Fixus application procedure: Economics and International Business Administration. For these programs, there is no rolling admissions policy. Out of all applicants who submitted their application for these two programs before the deadline, we will make a ranking. The ranking is communicated to all applicants on the same day: April 15.

The longer you wait to submit your application, the busier our admissions offices will be. It will be more difficult to upload missing documents or make changes to your application, and in the case of rolling admissions, it will take longer to hear the final result. Therefore we encourage you to apply earlier rather than later, and not leave your application to the last moment.

Application deadlines

Tilburg University has various application deadlines, depending on the program. Economics and International Business Administration have the earliest deadline: January 15. For our other programs, the application deadline is May 1. In some cases, this application deadline is extended. This is sometimes done for an exceptionally strong candidate or in case there is still room in the program.

Not directly eligible?

The best way to find out whether you can be admitted is by submitting an application. In this way, our admissions office can determine if you are eligible to enroll in a Bachelor’s program.

However, it is also possible that you are not eligible to enroll in a program right now, because you don’t meet our admission requirements. In this case, our admissions office can advise you on which steps to take in order to qualify for next year’s intake. Often this means you will have to do one of the following:

  • Take one year of university in your home country and pass all the courses offered.
This option applies to all programs offered by Tilburg University; but be aware: additional requirements may apply (such as passing a math test or achieving a certain grade point average)
  • Take one year at a university of applied sciences and pass all the courses offered.
This option applies to all courses except Global Law. Be aware: additional requirements may apply.
  • Enroll in a foundation year.
Right now the foundation year is only available for students interested in Economics, International Business Administration, or Econometrics and Operations Research.
