Specializing in Medical Psychology

In the major Medical Psychology, you focus on patients with mental health problems as a result of a somatic condition. You explore applications used in working in hospitals (POH-GGZ), rehabilitation centers, at GPs (POZ-GGZ), in nursing homes, and in policy-making regarding care and health. You can study this specialization in both English and Dutch.

You will find the answers on questions such as:

  • Why do we enjoy roller-coaster rides (while they are stressful)?
  • Why can’t we tickle ourselves?
  • Does having a depression leads to diabetes or is diabetes the cause of a depression?
  • Can a man still ejaculate after a vasectomy (male sterilization)?
  • Do single people have sex more frequently than married people?
  • I ruminate a lot lately, is this linked to my current medical treatment?
