Notes for applicants

These notes are intended to help you to complete the Application Form.

Personal details

Please give addresses where you can be contacted throughout the year, as the university may wish to contact you during semester-time and during vacation periods. It is essential that the faculty is notified of any change of address at the earliest opportunity.

Please indicate for which programme you wish to apply.

Previous education
Please indicate your most recent qualification, i.e. your undergraduate degree or other qualification relevant to this application. Please continue on a separate sheet if necessary. Please include transcripts of your qualifications to date, even if you have yet to complete your current qualifications.

English language skills
Applicants should attach photocopies of the result of any English language examinations undertaken (e.g. TOEFL, Academic IELTS) The minimum score for Academic IELTS is 6.5 (with no component less than 6.0), and TOEFL 577 (233 computer-based test and 90 Internet-based test).
The TOEFL Institutional Code for Tilburg University is 9860.
If you are an English native speaker or an EEA citizen who has studied in an English undergraduate programme, an English proficiency test is not required.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to supply additional information to support their application. Please use this section to include this information, and continue on a separate sheet if necessary.

Checklist and declaration
Please print, sign and date the form, and check that you have enclosed all of the documents required with your application. Do not forget to send a hard copy of your application form and make sure that you have enclosed all of the documents required with your application.
These documents are:
- Photocopy of your passport;
- Certified photocopies and translations of all your diplomas, certificates, transcripts of records, etc.
- A letter stating your motivation for participation in the programme
- Proof of proficiency in English, if applicable (see below under 'English language skills').
- Nuffic certificate (only applicable for Chinese applicants). Information on how to obtain a Nuffic certificate can be found at the website of: *NESO Beijing

Then click the 'submit button' to register yourself at Tilburg University.

Please make a photocopy of each document (including the application form) and send these photocopies with the hard copy of your application.

Application deadline
Students can apply for admission at any time. If they apply before the dates mentioned below, they will be in time to start their studies in August.

  • 1 April for all non-EEA applicants requiring a visa
  • 1 July for non-EEA applicants not requiring a visa
  • 1 July for EEA applicants

After you have applied
After receipt of your complete application, we will start the admission procedure. This procedure will take approximately two weeks. You will receive a letter in which you will be informed of whether you have been (conditionally) admitted for the Master's programme of your choice. This letter can be used to confirm your study place with relevant official bodies.
