Premaster's Program


Premaster hbo

The Premaster’s program in Finance is the link between the hbo (BE or AC) and the Master’s program in Finance. During the Premaster’s and the Master’s program you will strengthen and deepen the practical-oriented knowledge acquired during your Bachelor’s program through the more theoretical- and conceptual-oriented approach of academic education.

Application

A hbo Bachelor’s certificate in one of the following 4-year studies allows for enrollment in the Premaster’s program Finance:

  • Hbo Bedrijfseconomie
  • Hbo Accountancy

The Master’s program is taught in English. Therefore it is important that you have sufficient knowledge of the English language to be admitted to the pre-master. You need to demonstrate proficiency in English by submitting the results of either a:

  • TOEFL score with a minimum of 575 (paper-based) or 233 (computer-based) or 90-91 (internet-based) or
  • Academic IELTS score with a minimum of 6.5 score overall and a minimum score of 6.0 on individual parts of the test or
  • Passed Cambridge Proficiency test or
  • Vwo-diploma with a pass for English or
  • Hbo-diploma of which at least the last three years where entirely in English
Program

Most of the courses that make up the Premaster’s program in Finance are taught in Dutch. The Master’s program in Finance is taught completely in English.

Premaster university graduates

Tilburg University offers a program designed especially for students with a university Bachelor's degree who do not meet the requirements for the Master's program. This Premaster’s year will provide the necessary background to prepare you for entering into the Master's program in Finance. The course program will be tailor-made to the student’s needs. It consists of up to 60 credits (ECT), depending on the student’s background. If the background of the student makes a Premaster’s program necessary that consists of more than 60 ECT, we don’t offer a Premaster’s program. The student will than be advised to follow a Bachelor’s program in Economics.
