You are a professor in global sourcing of information technology (IT). Why does this field of expertise interest you?

I’m interested in issues like ‘How to meet the continuously growing IT demand by leveraging the worldwide labor pool of IT professionals’ or ‘How to bridge time zones and distance’ My focus is on governance, contracts, and organizational and relational aspects of global sourcing.

What is so interesting about the Information Management program?

This program started over two decades ago and has resulted in a large number of international publications. These included publications and books on managing outsourcing relationships, contracts, transitions, and human resource management. The focus of this program is on the global perspective of information technology services instead of on the technical aspects.

Which courses do you teach and what do they entail?

I teach the course on Strategic Sourcing, which focuses on strategic sourcing of information technology addressing, in-house IT service provisioning, and outsourcing. Theoretical concepts such as transaction cost theory and agency theory are applied to strategic sourcing. Management decision frameworks for strategic sourcing are presented in combination with guest lectures. This course provides in-depth insides in making global sourcing relationships work
