Intercultural Communication

MA specialization within CIS

Communication between different cultures and in different languages has become increasingly important. This is partly because of the rapid pace of globalization. As a result, interaction between people has become more internationally oriented, and therefore more multicultural and multilingual.

In the English-taught Master's specialization in Intercultural Communication, you will learn about the influence of internationalization and multiculturalism on language and interaction. You will study this in a wide range of social contexts. You will research how language, culture and identity are linked and how they influence each other, and how people behave and interact with each other in a multicultural society. You will study intercultural communication in social institutions and organizations such as schools, government bodies and co-operatives and you will examine questions such as: how do people from different cultural, ethnical and national backgrounds cooperate? And how can you lead culturally diverse teams? You will also acquire knowledge about how governments create policies on the multilingual and multicultural aspects of societies.
