Minor Program

From 2013-2014 onwards, the Tilburg School of Social and Behavioral Sciences of Tilburg University will no longer offer a Master’s program in Leisure Studies. As a result of this, students can not apply for the Minor program for 2012-2013. However it is possible yet to follow Leisure and Urban Development as an optional course in 2012-2013. For more information, please contact the director of education Bertine Bargeman.

In addition to the Master and Premaster’s program, the Department of Leisure Studies also offers a minor program. The minor program consists of three courses of 6 ECTS each: Labour, Care and Leisure, Leisure and Urban Development and Organizing Leisure. During these courses, students study the meaning and distribution of (leisure) time, the increased importance of leisure in urban development and the way in which leisure is organized in terms of policy, marketing and management. Together, this set of courses offers students the possibility to specialize in the study of leisure within the network society. The courses of the minor program are also available as optional subjects for all students enrolled at Tilburg University. The minor offers a good preparation for the Master’s program in Leisure Studies. Students with a Bachelor in Sociology, Human Resource Management or Organization Studies at Tilburg University, who take the courses as minor program, have direct access to the Master’s program in Leisure Studies.
