Admission and application Strategic Management

Follow the application procedure below if:

  • you have a diploma awarded by an institution outside the Netherlands.

Please note

Applicants with a diploma awarded by an institution inside the Netherlands (or the Netherlands Antilles) will need to follow the procedure Dutch diploma.

a) Check your eligibility

Bachelor's graduates of other universities (of applied sciences)

1. Educational background/diplomas

Entrance requirement for the Master's program in Strategic Management is a university Bachelor's degree in Business, Business Economics or Management, including courses such as Organization and Management, Marketing, Accounting and (Corporate) Finance.

You also need to have a solid background in Statistics and Mathematics.

2. GMAT test

It is compulsory for this program to submit your GMAT score.

  • The average GMAT score of accepted students at Tilburg University is 600. The GMAT institutional code for Tilburg University is VMV-LT-02.
  • Students with a relevant degree from one of the official partner universities of the Tilburg School of Economics and Management are exempted from the GMAT requirement.

3. English language proficiency

You need to demonstrate proficiency in English by submitting the results of either:

  • TOEFL with a minimum score of 575 (paper-based) / 233 (computer-based) / 90-91 (internet-based).
    The TOEFL institutional code for Tilburg University is 9860.
  • Academic IELTS score with a minimum of 6.5 score overall and a minimum score of 6.0 on individual parts of the test. 
  • Cambridge English test results: Advanced (CAE) or Proficiency (CPE) results.

An English proficiency test is not required if you are an English native speaker, i.e. if you are a citizen of, or have obtained your university education in English for at least three years in one of the following countries: Australia, Canada (with exception of Quebec), New Zealand, United Kingdom, Ireland and the United States of America. For all other countries, the English language test is compulsory.

b) Consider the deadlines

When applying for this program, please make sure that your application package, including all necessary documents, reaches us before:

NB: while Switzerland is not in the EEA, Swiss nationals have the same rights as EEA nationals.

c) Follow the application procedure

If you are an applicant with a diploma awarded by an institution outside the Netherlands, you should follow the procedure described below:

Step 1: Prepare your application package

Required documents:

  • Copy / scan of your valid passport.
  • Certified copy of your Bachelor's and/or Master's degree*, including
    a) Transcript of Records/list of grades.
    b) Short description of all the courses undertaken (a brief specification of the contents of relevant courses you have followed as part of your Bachelor's degree which are appropriate to the Master for which you are applying. It does not have to be an official document; you can write it yourself or copy it from the course syllabus.)
    *If you still need to graduate, you should submit the expected graduation date
  • GMAT / GRE test results.
  • English proficiency test results (TOEFL; IELTS; Cambridge Proficiency).
  • Statement of purpose (motivation letter).
  • Resume / Curriculum vitae.

Additional documents in specific situations:

  • Legalized translation of all documents that are not already in Dutch, English, French, or German.
  • Nuffic certificate (for Chinese students only).
  • Recommendation letter / References (obligatory for non-EEA applicants who want to be considered for an Alumni Funded Scholarship).

Step 2: Apply in the online application system (MySAS)

In order to apply for this Master's program at the Tilburg School of Economics and Management, please take the following steps:

  1. You will first need to create an online application account.
  2. After you have created this account, the online application system (MySAS) will send you an email asking you to activate your account. Once you have activated your account, you may return to MySAS and start your application.
  3. You can not apply for the Pre-Master’s program directly; always apply for the Master’s program. The Admission Committee will then decide, based on your complete application, whether or not you need to follow the Pre-Master’s program.
  4. Upload all the required documents as mentioned in the online application system.
    As soon as your application package is complete - i.e. all the required documents have been uploaded - we will start assessing your application.
  5. Within 4 to 6 weeks after your application package is complete, you will receive the decision of the Admission Committee by email.

Step 3: Admission Committee's decision

You will receive an email and a letter stating the outcome of your admission request and information about the rest of the admission procedure. There are three possibilities:

  • A. (Conditionally) accepted to the Master's program
    If you are conditionally accepted, this means that you are admitted to our Master's program, provided that you send the originals or certified copies of your documents.
  • B. (Conditionally) accepted to a Pre-Master's program
    It is possible that you do not completely fulfill the requirements. If this is the case, we may offer you a Pre-Master's program to prepare you for the Master's program. Conditionally accepted means that you are admitted to the Pre-Master's program, provided that you send the originals or certified copies of your documents.
  • C. Rejected
    If you do not fulfill the admission requirements, your application will be rejected. We will e-mail you personally the reasons for the rejection.

Step 4: Enroll via Studielink

All applicants accepted for this program are required to register via Studielink, the Dutch national database for higher education.

  • You need to register before the official start of the program, but we strongly advise you to register in Studielink as soon as possible after your admission.
  • You will not receive information about other procedures after your admission until you have registered in Studielink.
  • You will be given more specific information in your acceptance letter regarding the registration procedure, including information about the exact program for which you must register in Studielink.
    • The name of this Master's program in Studielink:

    • The name of the Pre-Master's program in Studielink:
      B Business Administration (pre-Master Strategic Management).
      In Dutch: B Bedrijfseconomie (premaster Strategic Management).

Step 5: Confirm your enrollment

After your registration in Studielink, you will be notified by Tilburg University and need to confirm this registration before you can start with the program.
