PhD Regulations
The PhD regulations of Tilburg University
incorporate a number of statutory provisions conform the Higher Education and Research Act (in Dutch: WHW), and a number of conditions laid down by the Doctorate Board of Tilburg University. The PhD regulations are enacted by order of the Doctorate Board, 16 December 2010.
Procedure and forms
The Graduate School is the first contact for general questions regarding the PhD program and the registration hereof. During the PhD program the candidate has to fill in several forms:

Directly after starting the PhD program the candidate should fill in the Application form for the appointment of a PhD thesis supervisor
and hand this in to the secretary's office of the Graduate School. The form should be filled in completely and should contain all required signatures.

At least six months before the desired date of defense the candidate should fill in the Application form for fixing a date for the defense of a phd thesis and the appointment of the phd committee
and hand this in to the secretary's office of the Graduate School. The form should be filled in completely and should contain all required signatures.

Joint doctorates
There are special regulations
for obtaining a joint doctorate. Tilburg University provides the opportunity to obtain a joint doctorate in collaboration with one or more international universities. The Doctorate Board must be asked to grant permission to pursue a joint doctorate a considerable time in advance. The regulations stipulate the procedure for obtaining permission to pursue a joint doctorate at Tilburg University and the conditions the joint doctorate will have to meet.
