Spanish Intermediate Summer Course

- Target group: Students preparing for an exchange program. The course is open to those who have done the Spanish Intensive Summer Course: Beginners or the semester course Spanish for Beginners.
- Schedule: One 2-hour morning class and one 2-hour afternoon class. In between lessons you work on your homework and assignments.

Course aims
After the Spanish Intermediate Summer Course you:
- will understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc.
- will be able to deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where Spanish is spoken.
- can produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest.
- can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes & ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.
Course information
The Spanish Summer Program consists of 2 two-week courses: Spanish Beginners Summer Course and Spanish Intermediate Summer Course.
The courses are based on a communicative approach using task-oriented exercises. All communicative skills will be developed at different levels throughout the program.
The focus is on vocabulary, basic grammar and cultural information of the Hispanic world.

Assessment and Grading
The final grade consists of:
- Written exam: 50 points
- Listening exam: 25 points
- Oral exam: 25 points
- Obtain a minimum of 60 points in total
- Obtain a minimum of 30 points on the written exam
Important Information
- Attendance: 80% attendance is required.
- Target level: B1
- In the event of an insufficient number of participants, the Language Center reserves the right to cancel the course.
- Tilburg University students 'pay' with 6 language vouchers. If you do not have enough vouchers, you pay €57 per language voucher.
- Prospective Tilburg University students who register from September 2012 pay €426 and can use their language vouchers to get a refund of €342.
- Tilburg University members of staff: pay €360.
- External participants pay €426.
- Alumni who graduate less than four years ago, can participate in this course at the internal rate of €360.
