Immigration procedures

Dutch Immigration procedures tend to have the name of being complex. In order to simplify them for you, Tilburg University’s Immigration Office compiled 5 different booklets explaining the procedures step-by-step.

Please note these booklets are written for students who started in August 2011. New guides for students starting January 2012 will be available here after 9 November. Most information still applies to all students, dates and financial issues, however, will most certainly change.

When talking Dutch immigration legislation, a division must be made according to nationality. In the overview below you will see what group your nationality belongs to and what booklet applies to you.

It is important that you read the applicable immigration booklet before your departure for the Netherlands, as a majority of the students (including EU passport holders!) will be required to prepare documentation prior to their departure.

The immigration booklets are available upon request. Please send an e-mail and indicate your nationality by clicking on the links below. You will then receive the applicable immigration booklet which enables you to prepare and read about the procedures. Don’t be discouraged by what might seem like an obstacle, our Immigration Officers are happy to assist you!
