    Tilburg University is in sixth position among the fourteen Dutch universities in the ranking of best Bachelor’s programs in the selection guide for the Dutch universities. The Keuzegids Universiteiten compares and assesses the quality of the Dutch academic Bachelor’s programs. In 2014, Tilburg University was in ninth and in 2013 in eleventh position. Read more

    Marloes van Noorloos, assistant professor of criminal law at Tilburg Law School, has been appointed as a board member of the Public Interest Litigation Project (PILP), a new initiative of the Dutch section of the International Commission of Jurists (NJCM).     Tilburg University has appointed dr. ir. Renata Sotirov as Professor of Optimization and Operations Research at the Tilburg School of Economics and Management, effective October 1, 2014.     Companies that want to have inventive impact need to focus on a limited number of products, especially if the products concerned recombine different technologies, for example, digital cameras. “Ideally, you use 10-30% or more of your R&D time for a multiple-technology product,” Tilburg Professor Xavier Martin states on the basis of research he conducted with three fellow researchers from Spain, Switzerland, and the United States. “In this light, the announced split of Philips is the right move. It will bring the necessary R&D focus, enabling Healthtech to really catch up to its competitors and Lighting to continue the transformation of its business model.” Read more

    Two Tilburg University students receive UNHCR Award for Statelessness Research
    An international expert jury has awarded the UNHCR Award for Statelessness Research to Maria Jose Recalde Vela of the Tilburg University Liberal Arts Program for her bachelor thesis and to Caia Vlieks for her master thesis in completion of the LLM in International Human Rights Law at Tilburg University. Dr. Jason Tucker of the University of Bath (United Kingdom) won the award for best PhD research on statelessness. All laureates were presented with their awards at the Global Forum on Statelessness which was held in The Hague last week. Read more
