Program Accountancy

The one-year program consists of 60 Credits (ECTS), equivalent to 1680 hours of study, offered in four blocks. Each block ends with exams.

  • All courses are 6 ECTS. Master proposal and Master's thesis is 18 ECTS (proposal about 6 ECTS).
  • Your program depends on when you'll start with your Master's program: at the end of August or at the end of January.
  • Courses are offered once a year, this means that when you start with the program in August you will follow other courses first than when you start in January.

Professional RA/RC track

The professional track (RA/RC) focuses on the set-up and control of external financial reporting with additional core subjects in management accounting, auditing and accounting information systems.

Within the program's elective you can choose between either Financial Statement Analysis or Incentives and Contracts.

CFA track

The CFA track offers students interested in both accounting and finance the opportunity to acquire the prestigious CFA® qualification (Chartered Financial Analysts Institute).

  • During this track you follow core accounting courses supplemented by finance electives such as investment analysis, and can expect to be adequately prepared to sit the CFA exams upon completion of the program.

Career paths

Subsequent career paths include that of financial analyst and investment banker. Some knowledge of finance (e.g. courses finance 1 and finance 2 or the equivalent in Pre-Master) is required.

Master's thesis

Thesis proposal and Master's thesis writing will be offered two times:

  • Regular students starting end of August are required to hand in a proposal in semester 1. Thesis writing is concentrated in semester 2 (Jan-June).
  • Students starting end of January hand in a proposal at the end of semester 2 (end of June). They can work on their thesis (from August until January).



CFAlogo

Tilburg University is program partner of the CFA Institute, the global association for investment professionals. This institute awards the prestigious Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) designation and offers a range of educational opportunities within the MSc in Accountancy and MSc in Finance. Within the Master's program in Accountancy it is possible to follow the CFA track. This implies that the courses within this track cover at least 70% of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK). Students within the CFA track will be exposed to the concepts and principles that investment professionals around the world have deemed integral to global practice.
