Admission requirements

You hold a TiU Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Studies?

You are granted unconditional admission to the Master's program in Human Resource Studies.

You hold a TiU Bachelor's degree in another social sciences subject?

You are admitted as long as you have taken the minor in Human Resource Studies.

You hold a TiU Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Management?

You are admitted as long as you have successfully completed the bachelor’s program Bedrijfseconomie or International Business Administration of the Tilburg School of Economics and Management. And you must have completed the courses Strategic Human Resource Management, Causal Analysis Techniques for International Studies and Construction and Analysis of Questionnaires for International Students (or the Dutch equivalents of these courses).

You hold a TiU Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences?

You are admitted as long as you have successfully completed the bachelor’s program Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) of the Tilburg School of Humanities with a major Social Science.

And you must have completed the course Construction and Analysis of Questionnaires for international students or MTO-D: Constructie en analyse van vragenlijsten, as well as two specific HR bachelor’s courses (or equivalent thereof), determined by the Program Director of the Master’s program Human Resource Studies.

You hold a Bachelor's degree from another university?

This Master's program may be of interest to students with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in the areas of economics, political science, management, sociology and psychology. Students should have the following prior knowledge:

  • Basic knowledge of social science theories
  • Basic knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods and statistics
  • Basic knowledge of relevant subjects in organization theory and the sociology of organizations and/or work & organization psychology.

You must apply in writing to the Examination Board of the Tilburg School of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Applications are considered on a case-by-case basis. Should you fail to meet all the prerequisites for admission to the Master's program, you may be able to make up this so-called deficit by taking a personalized premaster's program at Tilburg University.

You hold an HBO vocational degree?

You may qualify for the one-year premaster's program in Human Resource Studies. If you have completed the premaster's program successfully, you are automatically admitted to the Master's program. Please look at the application procedure for the premaster's program (jn Dutch) if you want to apply for this program.

Application deadline

Your complete application package, including all required documents, must be received by the Examination Board before 1 August.

Lectures will start at the end of August.

(As of Academic Year 2018-2019 there will be two intake moments. The first in August 2018, the second in January 2019)

Application procedure

This procedure must be followed only by Dutch applicants whose diploma was issued by another university in the Netherlands.

Applicants who wish to be admitted to the Master's program in Human Resource Studies must take the following three steps.

Step 1: Writing to the Examination Board of the School

You must apply in writing to the Examination Board of the Tilburg School of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Please make sure you enclose all the required documents with your application package:

  • Certified copy of your Bachelor's diploma
  • Transcript of Records/list of grades
  • Description of the course contents and a list of literature used during the program
  • Photocopy of your valid passport or your identification card

In order to get an overview of the relevant parts of your previous education, we ask you to fill out a course list. On this course list, we ask you to point out the courses you will obtain or have already obtained matching the mentioned subjects.

It then assesses whether your degree qualifies you for admission to this Master's program on a case by case basis. This procedure takes a maximum of six weeks.

If you do not have your Bachelor's diploma at the time of application but you will obtain your diploma in the current academic year, you can ask the Examination Board if admission to the Master's program would be possible, based on your combination of subjects.

However, you will only receive the formal letter confirming your admission to the Master's program from the Examination Board after your Bachelor's diploma has been received by the Examination Board. You can only enroll at Tilburg University after you have received your letter of admission from the Examination Board.

Step 2: Register at Studielink

Once your application for a Master's program has been approved you need to register at Studielink. It is also possible to register at Studielink pending the application procedure. We advise you to register in Studielink before the end of August in order to receive all the necessary information on time, such as the invitation for our Study Introduction Days which are compulsory.

Step 3: Complete your registration

Once your admission and registration at Studielink is completed you stil need to Complete your registration.
