ExpertiseErwin Bulte is sinds 2005 hoogleraar milieueconomie aan de Universiteit van Tilburg en hoogleraar Onwikkelingseconomie aan de Wageningen Universiteit.
Hij was tot voor kort voornamelijk bezig met natuurlijke hulpbronnen, maar richt zich nu meer op de economie van institutionele veranderingen, sociaal kapitaal, ontwikkeling, conflicten en wederopbouw in crisisgebieden. Bulte benadert zijn onderzoeksprojecten zoveel mogelijk experimenteel. Met zijn team verricht hij veldonderzoek met respondenten in de te onderzoeken gebieden, momenteel vooral in China en Afrika. Verder probeert hij samen met niet-gouvernementele organisaties grootschalig onderzoek op te zetten, om het effect van verschillende soorten interventies te kunnen evalueren.
