Strengthening ties between Chinese and Dutch university

On 27 July TiSEM welcomed a delegation of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE) from Chengdu, China, on our campus. SWUFE is a key national university under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education and is known as China's Financial Talent Pool, because many of their alumni are found in top management positions in the financial sector in China and abroad.

SWUFE has been a valued sister university of TiSEM since 2015 and student exchanges at the Bachelor level have already been successfully implemented, thus paving the way to open up other forms of academic collaboration, such as joint research, staff exchanges and joint conferences.

The delegation was received by Prof. Geert Duysters, Vice-Dean of Research. He says: We are delighted that we managed to identify several areas of mutual interest during this visit. Both universities are strongly dedicated to high quality research and we are pleased to learn that two of our former PhD-students have recently been offered a position at SWUFE, thus strengthening the ties between the two institutions.
