Abstract:
In cooperative game theory, the main subject of this dissertation, the focus is on sharing the profit obtained from cooperation. The first chapters contribute to the theory of cooperative games in general, by introducing a new allocation rule based on averaging the lexicographic maxima of the core and by investigating the structure of the set of minimal exact balanced collections.
The second part of this dissertation considers cooperative games originating from operations research problems. A generalizing framework for assignment situations and permutation situations as well as sequencing situations with Just-in-Time arrival of the jobs are discussed.
The final chapter considers the problem of ranking a number of alternatives on the basis of information on pairwise comparisons of the alternatives. A taxonomy of common ranking methods for tournaments in the literature is provided and a new ranking method called recursive Buchholz is introduced.
