Abstract: Full text
This thesis considers shape preservation and quality measures in meta-models. Meta-models are used to approximate so-called black-box functions. Often, only input/ouput data of the black-box function is known. However, it may happen that more properties of the black-box function are known and the meta-model might not inherit these properties. Therefore, we present methods that preserve properties such as nonnegativity, monotonicity, or convexity. Since meta-models are approximations of another function, it is also important to know the quality of the meta-models. Therefore we also study quality measures.
This thesis consists of three parts. Each part considers different sorts of meta-models. In the first part so-called Sandwich models are considered. In the second part Kriging models are considered. Finally, in the third part, (trigonometric) Polynomials and Rational models are studied.
