September 2005: "2004 Meritorious Service Award" from the INFORMS flagship journal "Operations Research" (the only time that a person has received this award two years in a row)

August 2002: Grant from the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) for a one-month visit by dr. Inci Batmaz (Middle East Technical University, Ankara) to work on 'Design of experiments with simulation models analyzed through kriging'.

December 1999 and 1998: Traveling grants from the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) for attending the Winter Simulation Conferences in Phoenix and Washington, D.C.

May 1999: Visiting Erskine Fellowship, Department of Management, University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand

January - May 1999: Grant from the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) for a five-month visit to Tilburg University by prof. William Biles (Louisville University, Kentucky) to work on 'Development of a Java-based control system for web-based simulation'.

1997: One month lecture tour to China; awarded by Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) and Chinese State Science and Technology Commission (SSTC) (awarded, but not accepted)

December 1996 - December 1998: Project Coordinator for the project on 'Sensitivity analysis for improved simulation modeling', NATO Collaborative Research Grants Programme, together with prof. Russell Cheng of The University of Kent, Canterbury, United Kingdom.
