Multidisciplinary research institute
CoRPS (Center of Research on Psychology in Somatic diseases) is one of the multidisciplinary research institutes of Tilburg University and part of the Tilburg School of Social and Behavioral Sciences.
CoRPS was founded in 2008 on cooperation between the departments of Medical Psychology, Cognitive Neurosciences and Methodology and Statistics of Tilburg University and a solid strategic collaboration with partners from the medical community that have an excellent clinical profile and an established scientific expertise.
In October 2014 CoRPS acquired the recognition of Center of Excellence.
CoRPS has an ongoing collaboration with teaching hospitals St. Elisabeth and TweeSteden in Tilburg. Other structural partnership exist with the Cancer Registry South (Integraal Kankercentrum Zuid or IKZ).
The mission of the CoRPS research program is to further uncover the nature of the interface between the human mind and body, in order to achieve optimal health care for patients with chronic medical or psychological conditions. The institute is one of the leading research institutes in Europe in the area of psychology and somatic diseases.
The research output of CoRPS is published in high-quality international journals and PhD theses. CoRPS organizes activities (seminars, workshops and conferences) to stimulate academic discussion and promote the development and dissemination of knowledge among scientists, practitioners and policy makers.
