Europe and Social Security

Research on the impact of international and European law on the Dutch social security system.

Project 3: The effects of modernised social security schemes on cross border movement of workers

The impact of 'Europe' cannot only be seen in the interaction of international and European law with national law, but also, more concretely, in situations in which the system of a second Member State is involved, i.e. in the case of cross border movement of persons. What is, for instance, the position of a person who was, is or has been insured in a privatised system and who Works in another Member State or who worked in that State. Such questions require careful research, in which both the already privatised schemes and the schemes which could be privatised in the future are to be studied.
