Delegation from the University of Tokyo visits ReflecT
On Monday February 6th, ReflecT received a delegation from the University of Tokyo, Japan. Labour law professor Yuichiro Mizumachi and his colleagues were interested in learning about part-time and temporary/flexible labour on the Dutch labour market, in order to draw some lessons for the situation in Japan. Brief introductions were given by Ruud Muffels (general overview of flexicurity research at ReflecT), Ronald Dekker (some facts and figures about part-time and temporary work in the Netherlands) and Nuna Zekic (legal context of part-time and temporary (agency) work). A discussion followed on how ‘equal treatment’ of workers with different types of contracts was achieved in the Netherlands. Furthermore, we discussed how employment adjustment for companies could be facilitated in labour market policies while at the same time guarantee sufficient levels of vocational training and income security.
