Starting a PhD research project: PhD Regulations of Tilburg University

If you wish to start a PhD research project at Tilburg University, you must have a Master's degree in a relevant area (see Article 2 of the PhD Regulations).

Joint doctorate degree: Special regulations

Tilburg University provides the opportunity to obtain a joint doctorate in collaboration with one or more international universities. The Doctorate Board must be asked to grant permission to pursue a joint doctorate a considerable time in advance. The regulations stipulate the procedure for obtaining permission to pursue a joint doctorate at Tilburg University and the conditions the joint doctorate will have to meet.

Structure of the thesis and rules of Tilburg Graduate Law School

In Article 17 of the PhD regulations, it is stated:
"The thesis shall consist of either a scholarly discussion in book form or a collection of essays written by the PhD candidate or under his demonstrable and dominant co-authorship. The assessment of material already published shall be based on current knowledge at the time of the assessment of the thesis".
With regard to this "collection of essays", Tilburg Graduate Law School has decided to apply the following rules.

Procedure for foreign PhD researchers

After the Tilburg Graduate Law School has decided, in consultation with a Department/Institute/Research Group, to admit a foreign PhD researcher, the office manager of the Department/Institute/Research Group and the Personnel Department will be responsible for the practicalities relating to their residence in the Netherlands.
