Course fee and administrative details


The course consists of the following modules:

  • Module 1: Strategic Developments and Library Management
  • Module 2: The Library in the Scholar's Workflow and Research Data
  • Module 3: Libraries - Partners in Teaching and Learning
  • Module 4: Mobile Technologies in Education and Library
  • Module 5: Web 2.0 and Linked Data in Libraries

The course fee covers

  • lectures;
  • course pack;
  • welcome dinner on Sunday evening if you applied for Module 1;
  • a number of dinners which equals the number of modules you apply for;
  • lunches during all modules you apply for;
  • coffee/tea/drinks during lecture hours;
  • transport from the hotel to the course venue (not for hotel Auberge du Bonheur).

The course fee does not cover

  • 19% Value Added Tax (VAT);
  • transport to Tilburg;
  • hotel accommodation;
  • breakfast.

Value Added Tax (VAT)

For courses held in the Netherlands, Ticer has to comply with Dutch tax law and is thus is obliged to add 19% VAT to its course fees. For foreign participants it is possible to reclaim the VAT from your country's tax authorities. Please contact your national tax authorities for more information.

If you work for an international organisation which is exempt from VAT, please tell us so in the Questions and remarks box at the bottom of the registration form. Don't forget to mention your VAT number. Only then can we send you a correct invoice.

Early booking discount

As indicated in the table above, persons registering before 1 May 2010 will be given a € 150 discount. Other discounts do not apply. Registrations should be received by Ticer staff on 30 April 2010 24:00 CET at the latest.

Scholarships or grants

Ticer, nor Tilburg University can provide scholarships or grants. For information about grants and scholarships, please check one of the following websites.

  • Go to the Grantfinder website. Select 'study' as purpose and your own country as country of origin. You get an overview Dutch scholarships for foreign students. Mind you! Not all grants are applicable for short courses like ours.
  • If there are no relevant scholarships or grants, you can try to interest commercial information providers (publishers or subscription agents) to sponsor you.

Registration

You can register using our electronic registration form. You can also request a paper registration form by sending an email to ticer@uvt.nl, a fax to +31 13 466 83 83, or by calling +31 13 466 83 10.

Invoice

Upon receiving your registration form, Ticer will send you an invoice (which is not a pro forma invoice!).

If you need a pro forma invoice, please do not use the registration form, but send an e-mail to ticer@uvt.nl.

Infomation Ticer needs: expectations, biography and photo

On the registration form, we request you to send us

  • a short text (max. 50 words) explaining your expectations of the course;
  • a short biography (max. 100 words) with, e.g., information about your current/previous work, education, and personal interests;
  • a (paper or electronic) passport photo.
The programme committee will use the first to fine-tune the course. We will use the other two to introduce you to the course director, lecturers, and other participants. Your biography and photo will become available via the course website, as well as in the paper course pack for participants and lecturers. If you have any problems with either of that, please let us know on your registration form.

Term of payment

The invoice must be settled within 14 days and at least 14 days prior to the start of the course. If you apply less than 28 days prior to the start of the course, the term of payment is reduced to ensure that the invoice is settled at least 14 days prior to the start of the course. The term of payment is indicated on the invoice.

The course fee is to be paid in euros. After the invoice has been sent, the course fee is always payable, unless cancellation has been received under the terms stated in the paragraph on "Cancellations and substitutions" below.

Acceptance of registration

Your registration will only be accepted upon receipt of payment within the term of payment. A limited number of places is available for all modules, thus ensuring an intensive and highly interactive course. If you fail to pay your invoice within the term of payment, Ticer has the right to give priority to other applicants.

Cancellations and substitutions

Failure to pay your invoice in time is not considered a cancellation; a notice of cancellation (in writing or by telefax) is.

If notice of cancellation is received at least 90 days before the start of the course (i.e. before 27 April 2010), we will refund the course fee, minus a handling fee of € 150. Cancellations received after this date cannot be accepted for refund, even in the case of illness, missing your flight, etc..

Substitutions (sending a colleague in your place) may be made at any time, but we need to be notified in advance.

Cancellation of courses

On 1 May 2010, a go / no go decision will be taken. Ticer reserves the right to cancel modules of the whole course if the number of registrations is insufficient to cover our costs. In this case, we will fully refund your course fee.

Health insurance

All participants in this course must have a health insurance that is valid in the Netherlands.

Certificates

Those participants who actively participate in the course and attend all presentations and workshops they registered for will receive a certificate at the end of the course. The course director takes the final decision in this.

ECTS credits

According to the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) standard, 1.5 ECTS credits are allocated to the full course (5 modules).
