Ticer International Summer School 2012

Ticer has the pleasure of announcing that the 15th edition of its Summer School on Digital Libraries will be held from August 21 to 24, 2012 in Tilburg, The Netherlands. This year's Ticer Summer School consists of four modules. In addition, an exclusive Library Directors' Course will be organized.

Directors' course: Library leadership in the 21st Century
New in the 2012 edition of the Summer School is an exclusive three day Library Directors’ Course prior to the Summer School. The course is a part of a more extensive Leadership Program that will start in June 2012 and will be continued after the course. The group size of this program will be limited to 16 people.
The Program is organized in cooperation with LIBER, the Association of European Research Libraries.

Four central themes

As is tradition with the Summer School, different modules will trace developments of 4 central themes:

• Module 1: Tuesday, August 21: Library Strategy in the 21st Century: From Vision to Execution
• Module 2: Wednesday, August 22: Libraries Leveraging the Cloud: Technological Developments
• Module 3: Thursday, August 23 Redefining Research Support
• Module 4: Friday, August 24: Connecting Students, Faculty and Resources

Top speakers

International lecturers of the Summer School are all renowned experts in their field. Among our speakers will be:

• David Lankes, Professor and the Dean’s Scholar on New Librarianship at Syracuse University’s School of Information Studies, USA
• Norbert Lossau, Director of the Goettingen State and University Library, Germany
• Herbert Van de Sompel, team leader of the Digital Library Research and Prototyping Team at the Research Library of the Los Alamos National Laboratory, USA
• Cameron Neylon, Senior Scientist at Science and Technology Facilities Council, Oxford, United Kingdom
• Sarah Houghton, Acting Director for the San Rafael Public Library, California, USA

Ticer’s course director will be Mr. Lorcan Dempsey, Vice President, OCLC Research and Chief Strategist.

Fee and registration

Ticer International Summer School 2012 is now open for registration. Fee per module is € 989 + VAT. You can attend one or more modules. We offer an early bird discount of € 150 for registrations made before May 1, 2012. A discount is also offered when booking 2 or more modules.
Fee for the Library Directors' Course (3 days) is € 3100 + VAT with a 10% discount for LIBER members. Only acting library directors can send in their application request.
