Paper

The paper is considered background information for your presentation. You are not supposed to read your paper to your audience, nor is it Ticer's intention to force you to stick exactly to the contents of your paper.

The paper does not have to be written especially for this course, but you are welcome to do so. The paper does not even have to be written by yourself. The paper can be any (published or unpublished) text you feel is relevant for the audience who will attend your lecture.

Deadline

We have the following deadline for your paper.

Copyright
If you send us an existing paper or article, we need to know whether you own the copyright. If you don't know, we will find out for you.
  • If you own the copyright, we would appreciate to receive your permission (by e-mail) to use the publication in our course pack, if possible for free.
  • If you do not own the copyright, we will deal with copyright clearance.
Requirements

The paper should meet the following requirements:

  • The paper should preferably consist of a readable text, not just sheets. As indicated above, the text needn't be exactly what you will say during the presentation.
  • The paper should be written in correct English.
  • The paper should preferably be sent to Ticer in electronic form, as one file. We can handle Word and HTML files.
  • Illustrations should also be sent electronically, in the same file.
  • If you do not have an electronic version of the paper, please send us a (good!) paper copy or provide us with the exact bibliographic details so that we can try to obtain a paper copy ourselves.

Papers in Word format

  • If you send a Word file, please do not layout the text extensively. This will make our work to convert them to a uniform lay-out more difficult.

Papers in HTML format

  • We prefer you to link URLs, not text. The reason for this is that we will print your paper, and in a paper form you cannot see the URLs behind a textual link.
  • HTML papers should have a proper lay-out. They will be included in the syllabus as they are.
  • If the HTML paper is available electronically on the Web, please mention the URL of your paper at the top or bottom of your paper.

Fulltext freely available

We want to make your paper freely available on the web (in PDF or HTML format). A correct copyright notice will be included on every page. In the lecturer questionnaire we will ask you for permission to do so.
