Title: On the Political Economy of AI
Abstract
This talk will be based on three contributions of other authors, Yoshua Bengio (Montreal), Maximilian Kasy (Oxford), and Jerome C. Glenn (The Millennium Project). I will discuss several issues that have received attention in debates regarding the ethics, social impact, and regulation of AI: fairness, discrimination, inequality, privacy, data property rights, and data governance. There will be special focus on the question of value alignment between algorithms and humans and the low-probability-but-extreme-consequences risk of superhuman AI systems. If time allows, I will also touch upon the international dimension, notably AI-governance issues between China and the West.
