Understanding Society

As specialists in people and society, we are concerned about the world around us. We aim to use our research to contribute to a better understanding of society, on the basis of which we can seek solutions to social problems.

Internationalization

Tilburg University research groups participate in dozens of European and global research networks. In spite of this, however, the voice of social and economic sciences is rarely heard in influential political and policy circles. At the initiative of Tilburg University, an international network has been created of higher education institutes which specialise in humanities and social and behavioural sciences. The network is called RISE: Raising the Impact of the Socio-Economic sciences.

The following institutes are members of RISE, in addition to Tilburg University:

  • Bocconi (Universitā Commerciale Luigi Bocconi, Milan)
  • Central European University, Budapest
  • Universidad de Deusto (Bilbao)
  • London School of Economics and Political Sciences (LSE)
  • Universität Mannheim
  • Sciences Po (Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris)
  • Stockholm School of Economics (Handelshögskolen i Stockholm)

Another example of international cooperation:

  • In Enter, Tilburg University economists work alongside researchers from six other renowned economic faculties in Europe.
