Understanding Society

As specialists in people and society, we are concerned about the world around us. We aim to use our research to contribute to a better understanding of society, on the basis of which we can seek solutions to social problems.

Research Quality

Tilburg University places great importance on high quality scientific research. All research is therefore periodically reviewed by (inter)national committees, comprised of outstanding scientists in their field. An external evaluation is carried out once every six years, and in addition, an internal assessment (mid-term review) is carried out every three years.

The responsibility for the research assessments lies with the Executive Board. For the assessments, the Standard Evaluation Protocol 2009-2015 (SEP) PDF is used. This protocol has been jointly written by KNAW (Royal Dutch Academy of Arts and Sciences), VSNU (Association of Universities in the Netherlands) and NWO (Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research). How the assessments are carried out, you can find in the memo Administrative Handling of Research Evaluations PDF Dutch information only. The Executive Board can undertake the assessments themselves, but it can also be outsourced to QANU or another recognized 'Visiterende en Beoordelende Instantie' (VBI).

With the menu bar on the left hand side you can examine evaluation reports of the different disciplines of Tilburg University.

As some of the disciplines don't have a (digital) evaluation report available, some of the links do not work yet.
