Deregistration

The full text on the regulations concerning registration, deregistration, tuition fees, and restitution can be found in the Registration and tuition fees 2011-2012 regulations. Below involves academic year 2011-2012.

Deregistration at the end of the academic year
Every registration ends on August 31, the last day of the academic year. If you wish to stop your registration at the end of the academic year, please use the re-enrollment email that received from us at the beginning of July. Follow Step 1 and click on NO re-enrollment. If you do not have that email, please request for a deregistration form at the Student Desk via http://www.tilburguniversity.edu/studentdesk. State your name and student number in the email. Our employees will send you a deregistration form by email.

Deregistration during the academic year
Terminating your registration at Tilburg University can also take place during the academic year, for whatever reason.

Termination of the registration of a bachelor program is only possible via Studielink Nieuw venster.

For master programs please use the deregistration form PDF to make this request. After graduation you also have to fill out this form if you want to end your registration. This form must be handed in at or sent to the Student Desk (A301). Your registration will be terminated as from the month following the month in which the deregistration form was received at the Student Desk.
Please note: students whose registration has been terminated will be entitled to a refund of the tuition fee, excluding if deregistration take place as from July or August.

Refund tuition fee
You are entitled to restitution of 1/12 of the tuiton fees paid for each full month following termination.

  1. If you have paid the full amount tuition fee, the overpaid amount will be refunded. For instance, you hand in your deregistration form on November 5th. Your registration will be terminated on December 1st and 9/12 of the full amount tuition fee will be refunded.
  2. If the tuition fee is paid in installments, the inning of the installments will proceed as planned up to the first month of termination.
For instance, you hand in your deregistration form on November 8th. Your registration will be terminated on December 1st. On November 29th the last installment will be transferred from your account. Three installments have been paid = ¤ 880,50 for students falling under the statutory fee. For 3 months registration you owe 3/12 from ¤ 1713 = ¤ 428,25. The overpayment ¤ 880,50 minus ¤ 428,25 = ¤ 452,25 will be refunded. Same calculation can be applied to the institutional fee.

If you are registered for multiple programs and you want to terminate one of these programs, there are 2 possibilities:
  1. If you paid the institutional fee for each program separately, then the rules mentioned above apply.
  2. If you paid 1 x the statutory fee you are not entitled to restitution of the tuition fee because you are still registered for the other progamme(s).
