Decisions within the university aren’t just made by boards and management teams, but students and employees contribute to thinking, discussing, and deciding on Tilburg University’s policies. From March 11 to 13, you can register to be a candidate for either the University Council or your School Council. But what’s in it for you? E-mail 'Register as a candidate for the University Council or School Council' can be considered secure
04th March 2024On Monday, March 11, an e-mail will be sent to all employees and students from the external party 'Het Stembureau' (voting application). This e-mail allows you to register as a candidate for the University Council or the School Council between March 11 and 13. Since this e-mail will be marked as ‘external’ in Outlook, and the sender is unknown, it might evoke some questions. We appreciate everyone’s awareness when it comes to (cyber) security risks, but want to inform you that this e-mail is genuine and safe to open.

More student housing available
22nd February 2024Tilburg University, together with the City of Tilburg and housing corporations, is committed to the realization of more student accommodation. We think it is a major priority that there is enough affordable housing to meet the needs of our students. We are pleased that more and more student housing is being completed so that students can start their studies and their lives in Tilburg. Some student accommodation is still available.

Remembrance ceremony for students at Tilburg University’s war memorial
04th May 2023On the occasion of the Remembrance of the Dead on May 4, Marike Knoef, Dean of the Tilburg School Economics and Management, and Siebold Klasen, president of student association Sint Olof, laid flowers at the war memorial commemorating the twenty-two Tilburg students who lost their lives during the Second World War.

22 students who fell during the occupation
01st May 202322 places in the lecture halls of the Roman Catholic Business School remained empty after the Second World War. 22 students who had fallen victim to the Nazi regime as a result of resisting, being shot or dying from exhaustion and illness. In 1945, after the liberation, the Tilburg Tilburg St Olof Student Association honored them with a commemorative booklet: In Memoriam Fratrum.

Board member Paulina Snijders to exchange Tilburg for Groningen
25th April 2023Paulina Snijders has been appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG), effective September 1, 2023. She will be responsible for the portfolios of Finance, Real Estate, ICT, and Digital Transformation.

Response to Minister Dijkgraaf’s Letter to Parliament on internationalization
25th April 2023On Friday, April 21, Minister Dijkgraaf of Education, Culture and Science sent his much-anticipated letter on managing the inflow of international students in higher education to Dutch Parliament. The Minister wants to take several practical measures to manage and steer the numbers of international students who come to study in the Netherlands.

Erik-Jan Broers ends up in the last four in the national Teacher of the Year 2023 election

University Council and School Councils 2023 elections results
18th April 2023The preliminary election results show that Fractie Front has won the student elections for the University Council. The party now has six seats in the University Council. Fractie SAM will be represented with three seats in the coming year, the same number as last year. Last week was all about student participation in the university’s decision-making. 2023 ECHO Award
18th April 2023Every year the ECHO Award is presented; an encouragement award for talented students with a non-western background, who are also socially involved. The winners will be rewarded with a fully catered Summer Course at UCLA in the United States in 2024.

Antoinette de Bont about lifelong learning: ‘We are working towards making this our fourth core mission’

Major maintenance of façade Koopmans building
14th April 2023As of May 8, major maintenance is being carried out on the façade of Koopmans building. To ensure the safety of campus visitors, a 10-meter safety zone will be established around the entire building. During the work on the northern façade (i.e., the side facing Library/Goossens), the building can only be entered via two protective walk-through containers. The bike parking racks around Koopmans building are moved to other places on the campus. Work is expected to continue until November 2023. Employees who work in Koopmans building will be directly informed of the renovation schedule.

Malfunction voting application student elections resolved
11th April 2023This morning, April 11, 2023 at 9 a.m., the elections for student participation councils began. There appeared to be some problems with the voting application, which made logging in impossible for most students for some time. The malfunction has since been resolved.

Student investment fund gets 400k from BOM and Brabant educational institutions
04th April 2023The Brabant Development Agency (BOM), Eindhoven University of Technology and Tilburg University (on behalf of Starterslift Investments fund) announced yesterday that they are investing 400,000 euros in the Round One Ventures student fund that funds student start-ups in the province of North Brabant.
