91st Dies Natalis: Go Beyond Borders

This year, Tilburg University celebrate its 91st anniversary, its Dies Natalis. The ceremony will take place in the auditorium of the Cobbenhagen building on November 15. This year's theme is interdisciplinarity.

Go Beyond Borders

Our society today is facing complex challenges. Think of issues like the climate crisis, mass migration, or how to deal with big data. To tackle these problems, we need to collaborate across disciplinary boundaries, in science as well as in actual practice. Interdisciplinarity, bringing together different approaches, yields added value. In addition to keynotes and the presentation of honorary doctorates, the ceremony will also include a musical composition on the theme of interdisciplinarity, written and performed especially for our university by top musicians.

Program (15:30 - 17:00 hrs.)

  • Prof. Emile Aarts, Rector Magnificus
  • Prof.┬áTon Wilthagen
  • Prof. Erik Borgman
  • The Interdisciplinarity Quintet
  • Presentation dissertation prize
  • Presentation of Honorary Doctorates
    • Prof. Lars Peter Hansen (University of Chicago, Chicago)
    • Prof. Julia Hirschberg (Columbia University, New York)

After the ceremony, there will be a reception in the foyer of the Cobbenhagen building.
