Scholarships

If you are selected for an exchange program within Europe, you will automatically also receive an Erasmus Grant for your stay abroad. For destinations outside Europe, whether you will be eligible for a Study Abroad Allowance depends on your destination, School and on previously awarded grants.

Erasmus Grant

The Erasmus grant falls under the ERASMUS program of the Lifelong Learning Program. The program aims to promote mobility in the European Economic Area and neighboring countries. By financially supporting students to take part in exchanges, the program hopes to enrich the academic lives of many European students and improve language learning, intercultural skills, self-reliance and self-awareness among students. The ultimate goal is to give students a better sense of what it means to be a European citizen. Since the start of the ERASMUS program in 1987, more than 2.2 million students have already participated. Will you be next?

  • > 3 months with a maximum of 12 months

Amount:

  • The level of the Erasmus grant changes every year. In 2012-2013 students will receive €220 per month

Study Abroad Allowance

The Study Abroad Allowance is a fund established by Tilburg University for students who are not eligible for any other grant in order to provide a contribution towards their travel expenses. The grant applies to Tilburg University students who are going on an exchange or who are doing research abroad as part of their studies (e.g. Master’s thesis). You can only receive this grant once and it is designed to offset the extra costs of a period abroad. Whether or not you will receive this grant depends on your Tilburg School and your destination.

Period:

  • > 3 months with a maximum of 12 months

Amount:

In 2012-2013 students will receive the Study Abroad Allowance in the amount of € 750,- for the entire stay.
