Tilburg School of Economics and Mangement
Do you want to go abroad but you're worried about study delay or you don't have the time to go for an entire semester? Then an international Summer School can be a good option for you! Many universities worldwide offer interesting programs during the Summer that are open to students from all over the world. Usually programs are a few weeks long and include social activities as well. Summer schools are a great way to get some international experience outside of the regular academic year. It's also possible to transfer the grades and credits you've received during a Summer School into your study program here, giving you something extra on your grade list and CV.
Transferring grades and credits
It's possible to transfer the credits and grades you receive for your summer school program to your regular study program here at Tilburg School of Economics and Management. You will need to look closely at the content of the course though. Whether the credits will be transferred to your study program depends on the topics covered in the course, the level, the study load or the number of weeks/hours of study, and how many credits you would receive for the course, as well as the level of the university organizing the summer school. For course credits to be transferred, the course needs to fit with your regular study program, meaning it must be related to business or economics and be worth at least 6 ECTS.
If you want the credits for your summer school program to be transferred to your study program, you will have to complete a course approval form for summer schools before you leave (please download the form here). Your academic advisor will decide whether the summer school is a good addition to your study program and whether the credits will count in addition to your program or as free elective. If the course is approved, it will be mentioned on the grades list you will receive with your diploma. If a course is approved as a free elective it will also count towards the total number of ECTS you need in order to gain your degree.
